(Re)Inserting Women’s Accounts into HIV Prevention in Ghana
Written in the context of my doctoral degree in Communications Studies at the University of Calgary, this dissertation draws from two years of theoretical research and eight months of fieldwork in Ghana. It compares the very limited official discourses of HIV prevention messaging to what women have to say about their own relationships and experiences. In the process, the research demonstrates the need for multi-faceted interventions that are more responsive to women’s complex lives.
